He was once quoted as saying he has had about 800 boxing matches. An obvious exagerration but he certainly had more fights than the 150 or so he is given credit for.

Boxing records weren't as well kept back then and there were a lot of unsanctioned fights that go by unrecorded so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he had a lot more fights than his record suggests.

On boxrec, I read that Jack Britton had something like 400 total fights, but not a lot of them were recorded.

Britton and Ted Lewis fought each other 20 times apparently according to the same newspaper that said Britton had 400 fights.

I voted for Lennox Lewis for the simple fact that he beat everyone in his era, unified a division and avenged all his losses.

P4P skills wise, he's the best British boxer by some distance.

P4P skill wise, Lewis is probably like top 5 all time of what I have seen (which is wildly limited, but still...). He was an extremely good fighter... Extremely.

I have no clue about all the old guys, and I must say Lewis was an extremely excellent heavyweight, but do you really think he was a more skilled boxer than JC? I mean some of the things Joe was able to do against Kessler (if no-one else) were absolutely crazy.
