They don;t seem to care about it beyond sending a few to the olympics. Back in the day they did have Carpentiere and Cerdan so you can't say they were always ****. It just is not a big sport over there on a domestic level which is the main problem. Fight fans turn out for Brit title fights. I bet apart from Mormeck none of them can put bums in seats.

Maybe the poor Africans and Middle Eastern boys go and play Football instead of boxing. It’s the easier route than boxing.

France have a reputation for not being fighters but before the 2nd world war disaster the view on France was much different. The first world war destroyed there country and there will to fight they never seemed the same again which was proven by there very defence stand during the 2nd war. As for there boxing they have had a few great champs like Carpentier and in recent years they had Mormeck who was a solid champ but I just don’t think its popular enough for them to have more than a few good fighters at any one time.
