Why did Pavlik fight Hopkins? name chasing?

good interview, found it very insightful

I do agree with what he says regarding Hopkins-Pavlik, as I also question Pav's team for taking the fight

as wouldn't taking Rubio (the WBC mandatory) then Arthur Abraham also been a good decision?

granted Abraham still could lose his upcoming fight, and Rubio isn't exactly elite


but still Cotto didn't get **** for fighting Gomez (because that lead to a fight vs Margarito)

and I think Pavlik would get a pass for fighting Rubio, especially if it lead to Abraham in 2009.

Larry Merchant is the best, dog. He really has something special to add with the Kellermans, Lampleys, and Lewises. Even though he's up there in age, it'll be sad to see him go. He can state the facts and not make it seem so obvious, unlike Max Kellerman. I agree with him on the Pac and Pavlik fights. Manny is in a win-win situation, unless the DLH fight messes up the rest of his career. Pavlik-Hopkins isn't in Kelly's best interests and isn't very good for boxing either, IMO.
