well, obviously if you can bring back a medal it's great promotion for yourself when you become a pro. Right off the bat you will have attention of the media and great opportunities. I think that's the main reason.Comment

I understand that but when youre clearly scoring punches and knockdowns that arnt being scored then that has to be very discouraging. Not to mention it seems some of these judges give points to one guy but when the other guy does the same exact thing they dont budge. Im like Teddy I think its a way to clear fingerprints and blame on bias scoring, this way you dont know who scored what.Comment

in this system I don't necessarily think there is bias in the scoring, like I said all 5 judges need to press the clicker at the same time (within one second) in order for it to count, so if one judge is late or doesn't see it, it doesn't get scored.I understand that but when youre clearly scoring punches and knockdowns that arnt being scored then that has to be very discouraging. I still think if you're good enough, and you know how to score points in this system (which they all should)), you should be able to win w/o a problem. So far I haven't seen any fights that I thought the winner lost the fight.
Obviously though this system favors certain styles over others, but that's always the way it's been in the ameratures.Comment

But since its open scoring also, making it even more horrendous, puts the other guy at a disadvantage to change styles. Just too discouraging for clear punches to not get scored enough then have to worry about impressing ALL 5 judges just to score one single point, silly.in this system I don't necessarily think there is bias in the scoring, like I said all 5 judges need to press the clicker at the same time (within one second) in order for it to count, so if one judge is late or doesn't see it, it doesn't get scored.
