Different sports, different rules. If I'm not mistaken, basketball couldn't have pros before the original dream team. I think it's done for ratings. Having Jordan, Bird, Magic and the rest was a big deal. Sadly, boxing is seen as a minor sport in the olympics. I think if they had pros there would be some serious mismatches. It would be hard to find that many pros in that many weight classes from that many countries. A lot of guys would get seriously hurt.

Im sorry but that doesnt make much sense to me.
Are there many more weight classes at the olympics?
There would be qualifiers aswell, not every country has representatives at every sport.
The orginal thread didnt suggest it should be exclusively pro.

That's kind of what I was trying to get at. I think there is 32 fighters in most of these weight classes. If there was a few pros in each weight class you would have some bad mismatches. Imagine Manny Pacquiao matched against some 18 year old amateur. There is just too much difference in skill level between pros and amateurs. Since it wouldn't be exclusively pros, some of these amateurs could get seriously hurt.
Why arent pro boxers able to fight in the Olympics? but Kobe, Lebron, etc can play basketball for team USA?
AM I the only one who always wondered that?
yeah I've always wondered that myself cuz they have pro's from some sports but not for others which is quite the double standard. Personally I'd rather see the amateurs competing cuz they mostly consist of future prospects for pro boxing and watching pro boxers go at it in amateur rules with all those mismatches doesn't interest me. like an American Pro Super Heavyweight going up against a Tunisian Pro Super HW is absolutely ridiculous to me. the Tunisian would get murdered.

This is a mindless response. There is no super heavyweight in Am!?
