I like Cloud, he packs a good punch and likes to mix it up, but he will have to dig deep to beat a seasoned vet like Gonzales.

It's hard to pick Gonzalez when he didn't have enough to beat an inactive, ancient Reggie Johnson.

I've never seen Tavoris Cloud but I'd have to favor him. Gonzalez just never impressed me.

i really think he defeated reggie
          he got robbed
the robbery factor really makes me doubt gonzalez
if it was a fair fight ill be 100% sure gonzalez wins

If the fight is close enough that the decision could have gone the other way, you really have to wonder how much Gonzalez has left. I saw him sparring in Tampa and it didn't look like he had much left. Still, with an untested guy in Cloud you never know. Certainly not enough to say he's 100% assured victory.

His problem is that he's 6'2 and tries to fight like Julio Cesar Chavez. You have to dig down deep to try and miss the guy.

This is a HUGE step up in class for Cloud. Of course it is questionable how much Gonzalez has left and whether he can get the decision in Chicago. The late money is going to Gonzalez though.

reggie johnson is a slick southpaw and gonzalez is a straight ahead fighter.

bad matchup, no matter johnson's age.. also a lot of people thought gonzalez won that fight

The fight actually fits right in line with the many upsets that have occurred on ESPN2 this year - an undefeated but untested prospect with the potential to get exposed by a scrappy faded veteran.

Still, I think Cloud is the goods. It's not a matter of 8 Count protecting him, just their having a hard time finding decent opposition for him at the asking price (basically club level fights/pay). But if they didn't believe in him, I don't think they'd have been so gung ho about winning the purse bid for this fight.

They could've easily let someone else win the purse bid with a much lower amount, and then pass on the fight with the excuse of not liking the payday.

To answer an earlier question, the card starts at 9PM ET/8PM Central (local) time, about 15 minutes from now (it's 7:45PM CT right now as I type this)

                    Did you get my voicemail?

Still, I think Gonzalez is very fortunate to be in an eliminator when he lost his last two fights.
