      Too Risky

I admit this fight looks good on paper. However, too risky of a fight for Cotto. No matter what anyone says- Cintron is bigger and hits harder than Cotto. If Cotto takes another beating there's a chance he won't ever be the same again. Just look at Ferocious Fernando Vargas. Cotto should wrap it up for 2008 and find a less dangerous opponent for 2009. You heard from me there will be no Margarito vs. Cotto II. Cotto knows that if he fights Margarito again it might be lights out for his career. There's nothing Cotto could have done differently to win the fight. He fought the fight he wanted to and needed to fight. For the safety of his own career he doesn't want to take another beating and he knows he will if he fights Margarito again. Margarito is way too dangerous. Enough said.

The fight with Margarito was stopped at the right time and Cotto is fine physically and mentally, if he fights Cintron and works the body and gives huge shots like he gave Margarito, Cintron will be down in 4-6 rounds. And Cotto vs. Margarito II will happen Cotto already said he will persue the rematch and I don't see why not since like I said he is fine mentally and physically, and will come more determined than ever when he returns later this year.

I think Cotto proved he aint got a weak chin in the Margarito fight...I thought that assumption was dead by now.

                And Hatton's 1st loss too.
Even Hatton said the first fight after your broken record is the hardest. Because You're fighting your opponent, AND your 'inner demons'. And Hatton almost got knocked out in his last fight against Luzcano.

Clottey?! I've watched Cotto's carreer from the olympic days, so I'd hate to see him lose again.
There's a few fighters that Cotto should fear. I believe Clottey is one of em.
Don't forget he went 12 rounds with the tornado, and looked pretty good against Cotto's former apponent Zab. Clottey's a solid guy, he was able to do 2 things better than Cotto, which might not mean anything if styles come into play, but it's DEFINITELY a psychological edge he has over Cotto. And that's the last thing Cotto needs right now - a steeper mind-mountain to climb.

I agree. I wouldn't put Cotto in with a knock out artist to start.
                Whatever happened to Nuzhnenko?
He was Cotto's manditory at one point.
He might make a good 1st opponent for Cotto's comback.
                He's 27-0-1, only 13 KO's.

I also agree that "there's nothing Cotto could have done differently to win the fight" (against Marg).
Cotto showed up in the best shape of his life! He dodged all he could, pounded him with EVERYTHING. I'VE NEVER SEEN SOMEONE GO DOWN IN SUCH GOOD STYLE. Stepping back in the ring RIGHT NOW against Marg would be prideful. And like Cintron, he'd end up having another loss added to his record.
Why should he even excercise his rematch clause? It's not like Marg will dodge him in the future.

I disagree with you that there will be no Cotto/Marg 2 though.
Cotto showed his resilience early in his career, and He came back to win battles in the ring at larger scales later on. This is just a new level test for him.

As long as Cotto stays in the division, he'll be taking out ALOT of the top contenders - when there's noone left, he'll almost be FORCED to rematch Marg, who I'm sure will stay at the top as well.

And if Cotto went his whole career without losing, beating every welterweight in the division, his greatness would probably be discredited.
Kinda like they do to Pavlik right now - "well, yea he's undefeated but there is no one in his division to REALLY challenge him in order make Kelly 'GREAT', Ali had Frazier, who does Kelly have?" -HBO.

thats not a bad fight for Cotto.

It's a risky fight because of Cintron's power but Cotto has the ability to beat Cintron no doubt.
