Livedog I'v got this backed as well. Can't be bothered explaing my logic in depth, but I'm backing Hopkins too.

I'm still shocked Pav's people made this fight. Bhop is too crafty and this fight could be very bad for Pav.

It's a bad bad fight for Pav and a big big risk.
Hopkins looks any fighter look bad, Hopkins gonna be hard to KO, Pav's been on his ass a couple of times, Pav goes up 2 weights, Pav wins he won't come away with anything.

Calzaghe is a 36 year old past his prime boxer. He just beat a 27 year old Kessler. So he doesn't get any **** from me for fighting Jones who is 39 only 3 years older.
Pavlik on the other hand is a ****ing coward not fighting Abraham in HIS OWN WEIGHT DIVISION. He's fighting a man 17 years older than him, a total embarrasment. I'm not a Calzaghe fan but at least he cleaned out his own division and unified it. Pavlik has done **** all.

And then he wants to end his "HOF" career on a 43 yr old Bernard and a 40 year old Roy...

Thats the problem most people have.

Pavlik on the other hand, will be around for quite some time after the Hopkins win... its just another stop on the road for Pavlik, where as, Joe Calzaghe is fighting the retirement home, and then proceeding to stay there...
i agree 100% It also helps in my book that he and his camp tried extremely hard to fight Joe Calzaghe, but Joe wanted no part of it. So at least he tried going after the best he could. Wish he decided to fight Abraham instead of Hopkins, but i'm sure we'll get that fight sometime soon.

Rkicards i think youre being a little bit harsh on pavlik, calzaghe had time to unify his division and seek out the big fights - pavlik doesn't hes ony been champ for about a year! give the guy a break man!

anyway in response to the first guy who started this thread james toney is one of th best fighters of the last 10-20 years - he puts his punches togther better than most other fighters and his ring savvy, countering and ring intelligence is up there with the likes of calzaghe, hopkins, JMM, etc.

p.s. thumbs up to live dog and co for being able o see beyond pacliks moderate power and KO reels and recognising that this is maybe his hsrdest fight - im backing hopkins too.

I guess you are not educated enough know that Abraham was already committed to a mandatory this year.

Please, Mandatory means **** all with the amount of money a fight between Abraham and Pavlik would have made.

Exactly. Did Abraham care about his title when he destroyed Miranda in more impressive fashion than Pavlik and called Pavlik's ass out live on American TV?
