wtf......
This is the same **** different day story once again. 2 things here.
1. No matter who it is or what time frame you speak of, you cant just discredit a belt. No matter what belt it is. Its just wrong.
2. I'm pretty sure everyone with any sense knows that Jones Jr didn't duck Calzaghe. If you didn't know, Well "Now you know, and knowing is half the battle" - GI JOE
With saying that, Jones was "the man of the 90's". Like I have said many times, you cant compare neither fighters past careers. Because if you do you must go to "paper" and WE ALL know Jones entire career on paper will over shadow Joe's like a ****ing solar eclipse with all the belts and weight classes Jones has gone threw. BUT WE ALSO know that it doesn't matter because BOTH are not the same or at least Jones is most certainly not that same guy and has not fought the "top fighters" recently like Joe. So speaking of the past its all irrelevant and means nothing, especially when your talking about Roy Jones Jr.
I guess this writer is just tired or pissed off at some of the OVERLY BIASED calzaghe fans saying over and over and over that everyone that ever put on boxing gloves has ducked Calzaghe. Let Roy and Joe do the talking. We all know Jones can stick up for himself and we know Joe's DAD has a big mouth and will do the same. Lets leave it to them and not worry so much about each others past. It's all Irrelevant and means nothing anymore. They are facing each other and come november 8th there will NO excuses about anything. These guys are professionals that will bring history to the ring no matter what anyone says!
Overall I can understand to a certain degree how the writer feels but it doesn't make it right to discredit someone's belt just to make another fighter seem more elite. Everyone knows what Jones has accomplished. Theres no need for this type of thread.

The authorof this article needs to pack up his bs, travel it a great distance, and unpack it when he gets there, far away from me. im not buying his garbage. give me a break, a slow methodical ruiz a tuffer fight than 2002 bernard hopkins. lmfao. When i look at jones' career, the word that comes to my mind is TRAVESTY. i think of fighters like oscar de la hoya, (who i dont care for at all) never the less who fought everyone from pernell whittaker, to chavez, to mayweather, to trinadad, to mosley, to hopkins, vargas, mayorga, quartey, and on and on. he sought out fights that the fans could get behind, building his legacy that way, and still is in his final boxing days doing it this way, with the names of paquaio, cotto, marguarito, and others being thrown out there for his final fight. to me thats a warrior.
Now try and amass a list of roy jones dandies, and u will find fights against a pre recognized bernard hopkins, a way over the hill undersized tito trinadad, and one very good win over a prime james toney. and then comes antonio tarver, and glenn johnson, of whom he was wasted by. granted i think the weight issues of roy having to lose actual muscle mass was partly responsible in his losses here, never the less he was dropped. to label any others on roys list in my opinion would be a stretch. montell griffin, clinton, paz, No roy it doesnt cut it. roy chose to build his legacy by showing off his ungodly athletism by getting in the ring with inferior opponents, and steering far clear of any battles. or in other words THE FANS FIGHT. so looking back at roy careers, and the fighters he steered away from, its proposterous to say that its not even a possibility to think that he wanted no part of a young, prime calzaghe who has since gone on to greatness, and that is a fact, regardless of what anyone says. He;s undefeated for heavens sake. To know who a fighter steers away from u have to know psychie. and there track record. roys track record speaks for its self, and im pretty sure the author of this article is not busom buddies with roy enough to get that good insight into his true psychie. so once again, to the author, take ur biased RJJ's opinions and try to manipulate lamen boxing fans of the world, i for one am not buying it

Wtf
This ****in dum ass writer should be stripped of all privileges to ever write again about boxing. That **** was so boring, I fell asleep 2 times before I finished it!!! Roy in his prime would of never loss to anyone! He never ducked anyone, and he beat anyone who was a big name when he was boxing. If you looked at the 1988 olympics, it is plain to see that, that was the most racist home cooking **** ever! This guy that no one ****in knows about, mosudfuhuohski or some **** like that is weak and is not know to the public. If you want respect in boxing, then beat some ****in big names period. Come to the U.S. Don't expect greats like Roy Jones ect. to come over for some home cooking! When this fight happens between Joe and Roy, what will you say then......let me guess- joe is fadding? **** that, Roy is one of the best of All-Time if not the best of all-time! Stop hatin on the guy and give him credit!

What a bull**** article. Its main crux is that Joe Calzaghe wasnt a real world champion? He was the best super middleweight in the world recognised by the Ring Magazine.
Who cares about what title he had. The title doesnt make the fighter, the fighter makes the title. Calzaghe was one of Jones' biggest threats. Jones expressed a desire to move down to 168 to fight him. And Joe was always willing to move up to 175.
Is the author trying to say Telesco and Clinton Woods were worthy challengers but Calzaghe wasnt.
Jones wasnt scared of Calzaghe, he just didnt like the risk/reward factor. Thats how I see it.

Lets have it right, this article is a disgrace, I have never seen such a content free, agenda driven piece of trash on these boards before. WBO is no good! Calzaghe doesn't count! Waaaaaaaah! Cry baby bunting.
I don't think Jones ducked Calzaghe either, Calzaghe never really got close to forcing the shot and even if he had the Showtime/ HBO problem would have kept them apart anyway. Shame a dumb poster like me knows the facts better than what I presume is a paid journalist.
Keep up the good work!
