Resume Question?

Miguel Cotto isn't afraid of anyone right? He's fought everyone that Bobby has put in front of him, right? Well Cotto has 33 fights to his name so my question is whose resume is better after 33 fights, Cotto's or Floyd's?

I've left Margarito off Cotto's resume cause of the loss and taken Corley, Sosa, and N'Dou off both since they are common opponents. I've also only included relevant names. If you feel I've left a name off please add.

I only counted Floyd's first 33 fights...Judah came after.

Well, just going by name without hesitation I'd say Floyd Mayweather has the better resume. He has wins over Oscar De La Hoya, Zab Judah, Arturo Gatti, Ricky Hatton, Sharmba Mitchell, Diego Corrales, and Jose Luis Castillo (twice). All those names are very well recognized in the sport to diehard and even some casual fans. For the diehard fans, you could add Carlos Baldomir, Jesus Chavez and DeMarcus Corley to the list. That's ten good names right there.

When it comes to Miguel Cotto, he hold victories over Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, Carlos Quintana, Paul Malignaggi, Ricardo Torres and DeMarcus Corley. That's no where near as many names as Mayweather.

Now here what I do like about Miguel Cotto's resume, which may be his only defense to give him the better resume; starting with his match against Carlos Maussa, he has fought fourteen opponents with a combine record of 409-31, with five of those opponents being undefeated at the time of fight. Mayweather in his last fourteen has fought opponents with a combine record of 527-45, with Hatton being the only undefeated fighter. You would have to go back fifteen fights to find the last undefeated fighter before Hatton, which was Diego Corrales. Sure the combine wins for Mayweather's opponents is much higher, but many would question the age-factor and whether those opponent were safely choosen perhaps due to them possibly being past their prime, like De La Hoya, Mitchell and Gatti. Most, if not all, of Cotto's last fourteen were pretty much in their prime, which could make one say that he went out and fought the best opponents available or willing to fight him.

In the end though, I still think Mayweather has the better resume. Regardless of whether his opponents were still in their prime or not, Mayweather did what he was suppose to do against these guys, which was win. If the megastars he fought were supposedly past their prime, then he did what was expected. If he had lost to someone who was labeled past their prime, then it would simply make him look bad.

It's their first 33 fights. I think Floyd fought him as his 36th fight.
