He beat Tony when he was only the 3rd best and took his place then proceeded to split fights with Quintana which dropped him a bit. He doesn't get to leapfrog Margarito just because he held a previous victory over him that much should be clear. In most rankings you take the position of the person you beat which is why Margarito is now #1 because that was Cotto's position.

Oh, I agree completely and I think the rematch will be made but not for 2-3 fights. In the meantime Williams better put some legitimacy into that belt he holds because he has never successfully defended it yet. Maybe even unify with Berto or Clottey which would give him some financial clout in the rematch.

Margarito will likely take on some big name fighters like Mosley or Judah in the interim and cash in on a great year. He's probably front runner for Fighter of the Year by winning the IBF and WBA belts not to mention the fight itself is a candidate for Fight of the Year. Chances are they'll face each other by the end of 2009.
