I nearly started a thread on him but since nobody answered my thread about Carlos Velasquez i didn't bother.

He looks really promising, AMAZING hand speed and power, Definately one to watch out for.

He has big ears like me too.

It's very hard to assess these young boxers when we only see them in with weak competition, but Jacobs didn't look anything truly exceptional to me in his last fight. At the moment Andre Dirrell and Bernabe Concepcion excite me more.

Abe, Did you see Velasquez on that card? Thoughts? ... I feel more interest towards him based on the fact he beat Gamboa convincingly and not too long a go in the amateurs ... Plus he looks REALLY good but again, Against poor competition.

Also Jesus Rojas caught my eye, He has immaculate power and accuracy, Just seems to have Juarez syndrome, A little punch shy but as mentioned during the fight he wanted to go some rounds and knock him out late, Which he couldn't do.

Impressed me though, The future of boxing certainly looks bright.

Read that thread and searched for him.
Beating Gamboa in the amateurs is impressive, on youtube there was just another prospect called carlos velasquez but nothing from him.

And to think, these are just the guys who didn't make the 2008 Olympics. The 2008 team has me very excited, much more so than the '04 team which hasn't even risen above prospect level yet.

Here is an article I did last week on the Velasquez twins, I definitely am keeping an eye on Carlos particularly because his power is something else.

Jacobs is very good but I agree, whats the point in holding him back when hes ready to make a statement already. Get him to 10-0 and put him with a perennial contender, he's ready.

He is obviously a major talent, but so far he has been beating the bottom level of pro opposition. There are still questions that he needs to answer.

No, I only get what I can download off here, but if he managed to beat Gamboa he must have something going for him. If you have links I will watch.
