Well I'm sure in his mind he believes he's a far better boxer/athlete then pavlik. Which is 100% true, he is w/o question. Because of that, he thinks he can beat him. The problem obviously is at this age will his body allow him to fight at high pace for 12 rounds. He must think he can or I doubt he would have taken the fight.
