I hate *John* Ruiz. He is the biggest disgrace of the heavyweight division and the biggest example of why the sport has fallen off. He was an actual champion. He is a glorified hugger. I honestly don't understand why anyone would root for him. In fact if you like him, I question why you are a boxing fan.
Are there any other fans out here that don't 'HATE' any fighter?

This was a very good post. I have never hated a fighter. I have hated the style of a fighter. Mel Taylor, Terry Norris, Wlad Klitchsko, and others, but as far as hate a boxer, never.I have never understood this. I've been a fan of boxing for over my half my life and can't recall a single instance where I can say I have 'HATED' a boxer. Where does this come from?
There can be times when braggadochio and trashtalking can border on the distasteful but I see that as all a part of the game. Obviously I have my preferences, and am a greater fan of some boxers than others but I couldn't bring myself to deride any man willing to risk his pride in the ring and make boxing the great sport that it is. I will always have respect for the winner, regardless of my initial bias.
Mayweather is prime example. I can see how all the 'lifestyle flashy' business can irritate people but when all is said and done he was a class boxer and dedicated his life to the sport. Yet there are countless hordes of mugs on here who get off on tearing his name down. And people like that ****ing idiot Wlad Owns aren't boxing fans, they are rentboys who are a pure embarassment to their own idols.
I'm not a fan of Klitschko's style but again, he does what he has to do and he's good with it. Plus he's a humble and likeable cat. I want him to meet his match (hopefully Haye) so that the heavyweight scene can return to some kind of dramatic form but I have no ill feeling toward the man, nor any other fighter.
For me, the courage that these fighters have to get into the business that there in is enough to redeem those characteristics that might cause dislike (but not HATE, for ****'s sake) in general life.
Anybody else noticed this or have any thoughts on it? I'm genuinely interested to some opinions on the matter, because this forum has been clouded with this 'hate' ****e for a long time.

sometimes i refer to "hating" a boxer like calzaghe or de la hoya but i dont really mean it, as a fan and an aspiring boxer myself i have enormous respect for all of them, i just dislike some of the things these guys do.
and as for calzaghe i just realised his annoying fans on here is what makes me feel animosity towards him, not the guy himself, he isnt that bad, just a bit protected and slightly overrated
and wlad klitschko, hes not a bad guy, a bit robotic in the ring but not awful same goes for a lot of other eastern european fighters
but his annoying fans (WLAD OWNS, tunney etc) who i think are really neo ****s posing as boxing fans just annoy me so much i find myself badmouthing wlad because they talk him up and irritate me with their crap so much....
anyway im ranting lolComment
