I never heard it before, but even Stewart said Cotto himself stopped the fight by telling his corner he was done. As he's getting up from the second knockdown, he shakes his head to his corner as if to say get me out of here. I don't care that he quit, but there was a big debate here about it, and it's pretty clear he wanted out. Hard to blame him since he wasn't going to win, but the bottom line is he did quit. That's all.

From what I seen was that he shook his head that hes ok. Either way his corner or the ref should have stopped the fight. That's what they're there for.

Who knows maybe he was trying to catch a breather and stop the barrage of punches and thought he'd be able to continue.. You don't know what he was thinking. If it was that bad he would of took a dive like Cintron did.
