Oscar Larios is 3-0 (2) after coming back from that crushing defeated by Venezuelan prospect Jorge Linares. The fight with Linares put his career in jeopardy after Larios was sent to the hospital and was diagnosed with a minor subdural hematoma, a bleeding in the brain. Even though Larios continues fighting he will continue so outside the United States where he is medically suspended. Some people question him putting his life at risk in the ring but you gotta admire the determination from the rugged and some can say 'shot' Mexican Warrior.
Last night in Mexico, Larios knocked out Nicaraguan Marlon Aguilar 17-5-1 (13)in the 7th round. This makes it three in a row and two knockouts. In May Larios knocked out Colombian Feider Viloria after Vilorias original opponent Jorge Linares withdrew due to an injury. After Larios won the bout in the 5th round he became the mandatory challenger to Linares alphabet title. How the alphapet group ranks him #1 challenger after having beaten unknown competition is anyones guess.
Now, Linares fought his last fight in Mexico and the fight with Viloria was to have occured in Mexico. Wether this is just a coincidence or the Larios rematch is trying to be set-up, hopely Larios never has to step into the ring with a great boxer like Linares.
Most will agree Larios best days are behind him. Larios was just 20-0 when he fought a young undefeated Israel Vazquez, now a Top 10 P4P fighter in the world. He was upset in a stunning 1st round stoppage. Larios would then get his shot at revenge when he took on Vazquez for a second time and knocked out his fellow countryman in the 12th round. Vazquez claimed he wasn't in the fight, wheter he was or wasn't Larios knocked him out. Vazquez then came back in the rubbermatch to end the trilogy with an exceptional 3rd round TKO. These fights with Vazquez might of been the highlight of El Cholos career. Although no one can question his heart he went 12 tough rounds with the Pound for Pound fighter in the world Manny Pacquiao. Most had expected Pacquiao to breeze past Larios afetr the Pac-Man was coming off that amazing second fight with Morales which he won by KO. The only other two people to have gon the distance with Pacquiao after that loss by Morales were Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez, a good group of guys to be mentioned with. Now for the sake of his career and life, I think it would be safe to tell Larios to call it quits.
