People still talk about Floyd because they miss him! Don't under estimate Floyd. He is a great fighter, a great entertainer and a great self-promoter. Floyd is a great business man. He knows how to work the hard core boxing fans and the casual ones too. That's why he get's the pay-per-view ratings and big money contracts he gets.
I have to say, I don't care for him. I always looked forward to seeing him loose. He didn't......I have to respect that. As far as him ever coming back.....
HE WILL BE BACK! Don't be fooled by his strategy. Like I said he is a great business man. He realizes the great talent in the W.W. division. He deserves a break and desrves to hang out with his family to enjoy all the money he made. He's resting the body, waiting for the smoke to clear and the one who is on top, the one everybody want's to see him fight,he will fight. He will fight because the money will be there and that's why he is in this game at this point.Last edited by alexdcolon; 08-07-2008, 06:51 PM.Comment

BPP gets paid to do what he does, you on the other hand will go as far as to make an entire thread about what livedog said about floyd, im just saying, i dont like wlad, at all, i rarely post about him, i never make threads about him, and if its a fighter i am not interested, i am not going to spend time discussing him nearly everyday and making at least 1 thread every few days to highlight something about him, i feel the same way about calzhage, at some point there is a line between common interest in a fighter, and flatout obession, you cant have it both ways.
Good post

I will take time to go round and find all the threads made about Floyd to get an exact ratio.

I don't want there to be a misunderstanding. I don't like the guy. I repeat, I do not like the guy. When he decides to fight again, most likely a year from now he will loose! He will loose because he will be fighting the true best welterweight in the world. He will make alot of money though.Comment

This the state of the fight game, and where its left at,
WW division hurting since Mayweather turned in his gloves, and decided to rap,
Mexican wrecking ball, Margarito is tapped,
Ask Cotto bout his game, with his iron chin strap,
Word on the street, is that Judah is gone,
How he lose all these fights, and still coming along?
How he still getting names, like he still in the mix,
Yet he hasn't won a fight, unless he's fighting a *****,
Clottey now looking for a big one, yet noone is calling,
And Pwill being ducked again, since he had Quintana crawling,
Both own some tight fights with the WW champ,
All until Money May get his **** back in camp,
Will that be the day, when we settle the story,
Can Money May take the throne back to WW glory,
We will see a real fight, or just men wearing skirts yo,
And what about this young cat, someone named Berto?
Does 2 Pounds still have the game to beat someone young,
Or will it be his last day in the sun, and if so will he be done?
And Cotto, where you going from here, they aint got no Puerto Rican parade,
Boy set it all up, and then he got slayed,
Just a little insight, all of it fact, and yes some of it plain,
This my interpretation.....................OF THE STATE OF THE FIGHT GAME!!Comment

I was watching the HBO broadcast last night. Max went hard at Mayweather. That was unexpected by many people because Kelz is generally considered to be a PBF fanatic. Margarito was interviewed and was asked about Mayweather. He also had comments about Mayweather's choices. Clottey made some comments (albeit complimentary) about Floyd. Even last week, after a terrific fight by Margarito and Cotto, the specter of PBF loomed large in the aftermath of the event.
For whatever you thought about Floyd Mayweather, Jr.'s career (*****, great, coward, unfinished, whatever), it must be acknowledged that Floyd has spent the past two years talking about how he wanted to leave the sport. He then announced his retirement, thereby leaving $30 million plus on the table to fight a guy he has already beaten.
And since he has "retired" (quotes for the benefit of his detractors), he has done NOTHING to indicate that he has a fire in his belly, or a passion to fight. He hasn't attended many fights. Even in his hometown. He hasn't granted many interviews. He hasn't called people out or made threats. Even his continued gymwork was revealed by Amir Khan, not by Team Mayweather. And this absence is coming from one of the biggest media whores in pro sports. In sum, Floyd has not done a Brett Favre.
My suggestion? Boxing should move the **** on. Cotto should fashion a comeback trail and rebuild his career. Margarito should take the $4 million "offer" from Goossen and try to avenge his loss to Williams. Oscar and Manny should move forward with their farce. Berto should step up in class and make the Clottey fight. Zab should continue his career as an overhyped gatekeeper to the WW division. Calzaghe should try to make fights with every 40 year old fighter he can find.
If - IF - FMJ decides to come back, we'll discuss the options at that time. Until then, the commentators, fans, fighters and posters should stop ****-riding..... because he has given you no indication that his next fight is imminent.Comment
