Goossen Offers 4-Million For Margarito-Williams Rematch

Am not sure people are reading right, let me put that out again...Margarito just made a guaranteed 1.6 million dollars, And if they add his PPV money on top he wouldnt make more than 2.5million for the cotto fight.

NOW Margarito is being "offered" 4 million Dollars guarantee by Goosen to rematch Williams.

Daniel Rafael was saying on a chat the other night, that it would take 225k to break even and that Arum was please because they were estimating between 400k and 500k, may break 500k from the initial numbers... don't know who his source was.

Rafael and Kim were floating numbers... neither had the figures because the nums were not released by HBO. Industry insiders can pull the nums.

Please notice that when a fight does well, HBO has a press release out by Wednesday.

In short, while the numbers aren’t out yet, HBO and Top Rank Promotions’ Bob Arum are very optimistic.
“As bullish as we were on the how the numbers would be during the week of the fight, it pales in comparison to how well it looks like it will do,” Arum
told me. “So far, I am extremely pleased. You really don’t know for sure yet, but certainly it would not be beyond the realm of reasonable possibility
we break 500,000. But we will certainly be well over 400,000.”
Even before the fight, it was tracking well ahead of last November’s Cotto-Shane Mosley fight, which did about 350,000 buys.

No offence, but you can NOT trust Arum nums. If you remember, after the Cotto-Mosley fight, Arum claimed that it did "a little over 400K". i then went on the record to say that my sources told me that it did in the low 300's. I was proven right. Arum is now saying that Migs-SSM did 350K.

I will AGAIN go on the record to say that this fight (Migs-Margs) did NOT do "well over 400K". Arum is lying. Again.

He had a $1.5M guarantee as the underdog in the Cotto fight. He will probably make $4M with the PPV share added on. Cotto himself had a $3M guarantee but will likely make $7M with the great PPV numbers for that fight(somewhere between 400k-500k).

Yep - and again the irony in Rafael once again taking Arum's word as gospel is that it follows a blog a few weeks ago calling Arum stretching the truth with Pac-Diaz - TR claimed over 250,000, when it was really discovered that the fight would be lucky to crack 200k.

Same **** w/ Pac-Morales III, which took TWO Weeks for final numbers to be released. TR sold it as good news, that they were already up to 400K, only for final numbers to be around 360K.

With a purse like that I don't doubt Margarito cashes in and knocks Williams ****** at the same time. It's a win win situation for Margo and I seriously doubt he'll be ducking anyone especially since that would be his biggest purse to date. My guess is that this fight will happen sooner rather than later...

That looks like a good deal to me! but 1st in line is Oscar because Margarito would make triple of that for fighting oscar.
