  • Vic Darchinyan Detonates Dimitri Kirilov; Unification Next?

By Cliff Rold - Before stopping Irene Pacheco for the IBF Flyweight title in 2004, 32-year old Armenian ****er Vic Darchinyan (30-1-1, 24 KO), who fight out of Australia, had to endure a bizarre delay between rounds late in the fight due to a fireworks show at the outdoor venue for the contest. Indoors on Saturday night at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington, Darchinyan provided all the fireworks anyone could ask for, dominating and stopping 29-year old Russian Dimitri Kirilov (29-4-1, 9 KO) over five rounds to capture his second IBF belt three pounds higher at Jr. Bantamweight. Yeah I didn't watch the whole fight tonight because I was switching back and forth between the Cotto/Margarito replay on HBO, but everytime I turned it to Showtime Vic was rocking Kirilov. He looked pretty good tonight. I guess if he wants a fight with Mijares that would be nice fight, but in the end I think he ends up like Arce a bloody mess. Mijares wouly totally outclass him IMO.

Just watched it now. When Vic can land his left hand he's deadly. Otherwise, very one dimensional still. Never heard of Kirilov. He didnt look very game to me.

Darchinyan obliterated Kirilov in a good showing, but the names at the top of the division are too much for him.

Totally agree with you guys about Vic. He has the power, but against the elite of Super Fly he really doesn't stand a chance.

Kirilov has been a very good fighter in the past, but he had no game tonight. It was a combination of Vic looking that good and him looking that bad.

Mijares will KO darchinyan around 10 in one sided rounds imo. Darchinyan could be a weird style for Mijares though.

That being said, Mijares is still better then Donaire even if he takes longer to KO darchinyan

                  Kirilov looked totally ****** tonight.

He was moving towards Darchi's left all night. Vic couldn't miss him.

When he wasn't moving towards Darchi's left, he was stationary and got hit even more.

I wonder what Roach's instruction was, considering that Kirilov's face started bruising in the first round.

Donaire will KO him again.. Nonito will definitely beat Mijares by points... Mijares KO Darchinyan is a joke.. Wide Shut UD is the best possibility.
