Its All Change At Welter, Funny Isn't It?

So Margarito beats Cotto, and now Clottey has a belt and along with Williams might very well be capable of beating Margarito. Suddenly our perceptions of who the best welters are are getting turned on their heads.

I can't really imagine that Margarito will want to fight Clottey or Williams, so how is this division going to pan out from now? Clottey says he wants Berto and I think he'd win that fight, but I'm not sure it'll happen.

I'd also pick Williams to beat Margarito again and Clottey too, since styles make fights.

Where does all this leave Cotto?

Anyway, we suddenly have an excellent, competitive division again, when just a week ago most thought it was Cotto and the rest.

    Great for boxing!

Yeah with Williams, Margarito, Berto, and Clottey all holding belts the WW division is wide open. I don't know if one guy is really the best out of all of them.

          You're in denial too.

Clearly the Welterweight division is wide open.

Yes Cotto needs to jump back into gear but take time off then fight a lesser opponent.

There's lots of good matchups that could be made:

              Berto vs. Clottey
              Williams vs. Clottey
              Cotto vs. Clottey
              Margarito vs. Williams II
              Margarito vs. Berto
              Cotto vs. Berto

              among others.

I'd slightly favor Margarito over both Clottey and Williams.

Thats a good call for Cotto, a decent fight he should win. Just think though, not long ago they might have made that one for the Ring belt after Mayweather retired!

                    My take is this:

Williams over Margarito, Clottey and Berto
                    Margarito over Clottey and Berto
                    Cotto over Clottey and Berto
                    Clottey over Berto
No idea on Williams and Cotto, Cotto maybe

That's without throwing Mosley into the mix at all.
