You've so far described it best. Ali was witty, backed up his words, seemed to mean what he said, was involved in affairs outside of the ring and involved with two of the biggest black individuals in history: Malcolm X and MLK, he was big because of the sport, but also for his charisma and genuinity. It also helped that he had a terrific, terrific chemistry with Cosell, whenever they got together the playful banter would be very entertaining to listen to, without the need to swear or use racial slurs or anything.
Floyd Jr persona is nothing like ALI.

The only thing floyd and ali have in common is they both run their mouth and they both attract attention. Ali and Floyd came up in different era, different current events and a completely different setting. I know in reality ,anyone with any sense wouldnt compare ali to floyd, and i know alot of you in here are looking for a reason to state the obvious, but Ali and Floyd are in 2 completely different eras for black folks and boxing. Boxing isnt what it was for Americans at that time, Guys like Jeff Lacy, Jermaine Taylor, Vernon Forrest, Paul Williams, and Shane Mosley dont attempt to promote flashy lifestyles or over the top trash talk, but on the other hand, their followings are small and reigonal at best. In any other era, these guys would be huge because the sport was much bigger, now at this point, if you are black and you are american, unless you resemble tyson, or have a personality thats incredibly polarizing, developing a following in this sport without a gimmick is difficult.Comment

Floyd was one of my Fav fighters but is far below Ali in Boxing skills, Charisma, Legacy and as an overall person. Ali is a once in a Century person...the Greatest Sportsman of All TimesComment
