ughhhhhhhhhh..why not? Pac and freddie roach are trash talkin talkin and he needs to fight a top welter contender so people don't start attacking his rep. His plan from the begginning was to fight money may in september then retire with a fight in december, now he can do this by fighting pac and margarito.

I couldn't stand the guy earlier in his career. I was a big Trinidad Fan and before they fought there was just a little too much "cheese" with his persona.
Over the years I've learned to respect him. He is indeed a great champ and represents the game in a positive way. In his better days he took on all challenges! Let's face it, they guy is now past his prime but still gets the ratings and allows others to make a decent living if they have an opportunity to fight him. I think he has earned the right to fight who he wants without people bashing him. He is not from the same era as Margarito. He would have beat him in his prime. I can't blame the guy for not choosing him as an opponent after watching him beat Cotto. He's had those battles...been there done that!

He lost respect because he have grown into a ***** these later years, Rarely usses his best weapon - his jab, He runs out of gas after the sound of the 6. round and because he is starting to handpick some easy fights! Forbes & Pacman..!

lol, how is DLH not a real Mexican? Most of the Mexican Americans that I hear talk abot Chicano pride dont even speak spanish fluently or at all while DLH actually speaks better spanish than english! Besides, that ***** whipped dude has actually become more Puerto Rican than anything lately, ha ha. Anyway DLH doesnt have a badass attitude like Margarito but he wouldnt be a successful businessman if he did.

Oscar De La Hoya was the first fighter I ever saw on PPV when I was little.
He was and is an inspiration coming from the same place that I'm from and making it to the Olympics winning a gold medal for his mother.
He's always been one of those people I looked up to growing up.
Lately his business decisions and his refusal to give it up and retire have been getting on my nerves. He is losing lots of respect from me fighting dudes like Stevie Forbes and Manny Pacquiao.
De La Hoya is not a jr. middleweight.. he has let himself go so much that he fights in that division. He can't compete in that division though so he fights smaller men and IMO he can no longer compete with the big names in the welter division either which is why he should give it up.
I don't dislike Oscar.. but I've seen now how fake he can be sometimes. At the end of the day I will always be a fan of his but I don't agree with what he is doing at all.

I think Oscar could have won some of those fights he was in more convincigly if he would have trained harder and been more worried about boxing then about being a star. He wouldn't of had so many loses and those having a better legacy but like we say... woulda coulda didnt.
