Since alot of people had to watch this fight thru the crooked eyes of HBO and its absolutely horrible commentators I would like to point out a few things about this fight,caution this is a rant!
Number one (Very Obvious) This fight was brutal and on par with Vazquez vs Marquez on the old inflicted damage meter. All in all a great action fight!
Margarito took a severe beating but proved he is the toughest of tough guys in boxing right now. The guy ate a lot of clean, hard shots and his own face looked very bad after the fight.
Cotto's Nose was crushed by the Margonator and the dude was swallowing blood like Count Dracula. He was also severely busted up and damaged.
But that said, it seemed like this fight and the fighters should have been appreciated and admired just as Vaz and Marq. Instead it seems there was instant negativity spread everywhere ( except in Tiajuana, party time!) about this fight.
Lets start off with HBO
These guys are Classless bums. Their garbage commentary throughout the fight and the way they feasted on the pain and sorrow of Cotto's family like sharks on a feeding frenzy! I mean I can understand maybe briefly flashing to Cotto's family but they put them on camera for a very inappropriate amount of time But then the icing on the cake, set up by tearful Lampley, as a montage of moments of battle or something? but it was actually just Cotto at his worst and spitting up blood then cut to his family to milk more from their sorrow. **** these guys! You throw Max Kellerman's idiotic ass into the mix followed by Manny "I told you so" Steward and I have had enough of these guys. Bring on Showtime!
On the boards I see a mixture of fans being let down cause their guy lost then Margarito fans going off the deep end and out of their way to put the salt in the wound. Look these guys were warriors and fought a very brutal fight. Both of them have respect for what each other went thru, shouldnt we? All this Cotto is ruined and Margarito would do the same thing to Floyd bull**** needs to stop. I highly doubt either of those scenarios will tread water. But almost nobody talking about how great of a fight this was straight up until Cotto detonated.
These guys put on a display of toughness and Im ready for number two if we are lucky maybe a trilogy!
