None of you know how great Tyson could have been

If he had kept his head in the game and stayed out of jail he could have been the greatest heavyweight ever. How do you think a prime tyson would have done against Holyfield? Tyson wouldn't have broken down mentally like a ***** and threw the fight away. He would have stuck to the game plan and pounded Holyfield out. Tyson gets a bad rap. Tyson would have worked defensively and knocked Lennox's ****** ass out to. Tyson is underrated.

Neither do you. It's the Kurt Cobain/Jimi Hendrix theory. You base what they could have been, on what they had done before it all ended.

The problem is that there's a chance you saw the best of Tyson. Maybe he wins another 'big' enough fight, but it's just as easy to say he could have been the best ever as it is to say that Cobain would have released 3 or 4 classic albums. No one knows.

All you know is what DID happen, much like (sadly) Salvador Sanchez. Things happen.

I don't think he is underrated, but it's true he could have been one of the greatest. He had everything you could ask in a fighter- power, speed, elusiveness, tight defense, ect.

I used to always think the same thing, but a long time ago I let it go. What happened, happened and it's all just speculation now as what he could have been. He will always be one of my favorite fighters because his fights back in the late 80's is what got me into liking boxing, but he had a chance to be great and blew it.
