Theres only one prime fighter in that list, surely you can't become elite by defeating just former great fighters?

It would be if any of it were true. I mean, he seems to have a decent punch, but slick...fast?

So who does he have to beat? I'm not sure this makes sense, he beat Kostya Tszyu (IBF) by 11th round quittage, he beat Carlos Maussa (WBA) by ninth round KO, he beat Juan Urango (IBF) by 11 rounds to 1 decision and you've already discounted Malignaggi (IBF) for reasons unspecified, so who does he have to beat to be elite? Timothy Bradley? Kendall Holt? Andreas Kotelnik? All of them?

Essentially if Ricky Hatton doesn't qualify as an elite fighter who does?

Hatton is good even though I called him a bum but really he is no where near the elite level. Why do so many people hate on Cotto?
His chin isnt the best but look how far he has gotten with it. People talk about how Paulie M rocked him yet he went on to win easy. He was the only ww out there to have the balls to fight margarito. he could have been like btich ass Floyd and fought a tune up just to get to Oscar in December but he took on a real fighter. Hatton has to fight Junior Witter
he has been ducking him for years

malignaggi will beat hatton easier than he beat watts.

no, but seriously malignaggi will win.

Do you consider Maussa, Urango elite? And yes if Hatton finished his career with good decisive wins over Holt, Malignaggi and Bradley he would have proved himself (to me anyway)
