I posted this on another thread which appears to be dead so I'll repost here. I'm not a self described Pac hater. I have plenty of respect for his talent but not necessarily for the way his team has handpicked some his opponents. I dont understand why he made the move up to lightweight if he's going to face superfeatherweights. There are so many talented fighters in the lightweight division already and so many potential great fights to be made. Several of the top lightweights also expressed their desire to face Pac before finalizing their current contracts.
If Pac goes on to clean out the lightweight division, I think everyone would give him all the credit he deserves, however, it seems like he's more interested in closing out his career by going for the Hail Mary play and achieving an unlikely victory over fading DLH and Hatton rather than cleaning up against the toughest lightweights.
I think it's a measured risk, DLH and Hatton would provide huge paydays. The odds are certainly going to be in favor of DLH or Hatton winning so if Pac were to lose to them, people would excuse those loses as being against larger opponents. However if Pac were to lose to someone like Campbell there would be no excuses. Campbell would have proven himself to be the superior boxer in Pac's current division.
Anyway, no boxer should be above criticism. If Pac huggers had their way they'd probably have his mug in the middle of every page. At the end of the day I think the excessive pac love and unnecessary Pac hate balances out.
