    Bingo! I also say Salvatore Sanchez was not only the best defensive Mexican fighter I say he was the best Mexican fighter period of all time. Sanchez was superb at every facet of boxing.

      I would go with Canto. If you can imagine a Mexican styled Whitaker, that is what Canto was like. Lopez was great, but still more of an offensive minded counter puncher rather than defensive. He was like a slightly more polished version of Juan M. Marquez. Very similar.

            Cristian Mijares, hands down. Jorge Paez used to have a good defense and of course Ricardo Lopez. Juan Manuel Marquez could be consider.
