Sebastian Lujan Pounds Jose Luis Castillo, Retirement Next?

By Cliff Rold - Arguably the best and most accomplished Lightweight of the opening decade to the twenty-first century may have seen his career ended in the Welterweight division on Wednesday night at the Sycuan Resort & Casino in El Cajon, California. 34-year old former World champion Jose Luis Castillo (56-9-1, 48 KO) of Mexico suffered his second loss in three bouts against 28-year old Argentine Sebastian Lujan (30-5-2, 20 KO) via a decisive unanimous decision. Recent struggles with weight and years of wars were too much baggage against a younger, hungrier foe and further fights would be unlikely to get easier in the future. [details]

Lujan must have been training with Margarito or got a lot from it because his work rate wasway up there.

I hope if Castillo keeps fighting that the networks don't encourage it anymore by airing it. It is too depressing to watch. I know he needs cash, but he just can't do it anymore.

I was thinking the same exact same thing as I watched the fight. The fight was only 10 rounds, but Lujan was extremely active throwing over a 1,000 punches while Castillo only threw a little under or a little over 500 punches.

It was sad to see him like that.
