In america we just dont get behind our fighters, in the olympics or in the pros, we have too many other sports competeting for our time and our dollars.
In america, we dont really cling to our patriotism as blacks do in latin countries because from birth we are taught that our skin color comes first, everything else comes second, culture for blacks isnt like culture for mexicans, puerto ricans, cubans, etc etc, for black americans everything about our culture was stripped from us as far as africa goes, so we just made up our own ****, we made it up as we went along. I think for latin countries, blacks, whites and indians just came to accept what the spanish were forcing on them because it became the status quo in society, the ways of the indians, and the ways of the african ****** brought to those countries were seen as primitive by the spanish, so they were phased out in favor of their langauges and their ways of doing things, its exactly why being called an "indio" is an insult. Or why blacks in latin america dont even call themselves black.
Take me for instance, i grew up in america, id say i was black before id ever say i was "puerto rican" because of my mothers ancestory, thats just how it is here.
**** you see today, blues, jazz, this rap ****, the way we dress, the black man in america is the most emulated person on the planet, yet at the same time, in america its looked at as "black" culture, but in other parts of the world, its "american" culture.
Most latins fuse their nationality with their actual race, we dont do that here, thats why you dont see this crazy intercontinental rivalry with other countries, we just dont ****ing care.Last edited by El Jesus; 08-02-2008, 04:32 AM.Comment

since theres no good black fighters these days this man is the only hope left. that is why you see so many people jumping on his bandwagon lately when he had no fans after quintana beat him. margaritos fans stuck with him even when he lost to williams and santos. but now that williams is the only decent black fighter out there they all back on his bandwagon. this kind of stuff makes me sick.
Someone told me awhile ago, that Viva was an Alt account for a couple people who weren't even Mexican...These kind of posts actually makes me wonder if they weren't lyin. For the longest time, I didn't even think he was, even now I wonder..
First of all, theres black fighters in this sport holdin it down. And second, Paul Williams is just a giant for the WW division., he'lll give anyone problems. So of course people will look to him, the guys a freak by WW standards.
But talkin about "Black hopes" like "White hopes"...thats mad suspect..Comment

Alot of it has to do with america being very reigonal, as well as us excelling at just about every major sport, the rivalry between mayweather and judah was big because it involved 2 blacks from two different reigons, new york niccas ran with judah, west coast/midwest niccas ran with mayweather, it was a big fight in the black community. It would be the same with Williams vs Judah, dirty south vs new york.
