  • Morales-Cotto fight similar to Pac-MoralesII plus analysis

I wached the replay of the Marg-Cotto fight and I can't help but compare the similarity of the fight with the Pac-Morales II.

Also this will be another boxing education to the idiots here in this forum. I will endeavor to instruct the mental midgets here because their parents seem to fail to teach them about common sense.

The most fundamental similarity between the 2 fights mentioned earlier lies on the fact that the fight was deceptive on the senses for boxing fans.

Deceptive on the fact that in both fights one guy was SUPPOSEDLY dominating the other until the tide turned.

On Pac's case Morales was winning 4 out of the first 5 rounds until the body shots that Pac invested earlier took its toll on Morales and come round 6, a slowed Morales faced the onslaught of Pac's attack.

Margarito was putting in a steady diet of body punches and uppercuts on Cotto and while Cotto was OUTBOXING Margarito winning 4 of the first 6 rounds, Marg was systematically breaking him down.

On both cases one has to have a keen eye to observe that while the other guy (Morales, Cotto) is DOMINATING the other, they're not really hurting their opponent or dishing out enough punishment to slow their opponent down. Both Pac and Margarito kept shrugging the blows that Morales and Cotto was dishing out until the latter slowed down which was by then the competetive bout turned into a bloody beating.

For the record and let's not be idiots in this one.

Starting round 7 it can be said that Cotto has lost almost every round.

HERE IS MY BOXING EDUCATION FOR THE IDIOTS IN THIS FORUM.

When a boxer is back-peddaling, he has to DOMINATE his opponent in order to win the round. Otherwise the aggresor will win the round if the round is close.

This is the basic professional boxing principle which a lot of utter idiots here... mostly IDIOT GAYWEATHER FANS seem to forget.

Margarito's aggresion and indomitable will did it for Cotto. Starting round 7 it was clear that Margarito is putting on the beating of his life on Cotto.

Forget about slick movement, forget about sweet combinations. If a boxer cannot hurt his opponent then all those pretty punches aint worth a ****.

Cotto may be landing the clear punches due to his superior handspeed and footwork. But Margarito is landing the more effective and damaging blows on Cotto.

This win for Margarito establishes him as the elite he claims to be.

It further makes ******s like Gayweather look the fool. As for the idiots here.

It's easy to say one thing.

Proving it is a different matter altogether.

    As for Cotto.

    DO NOT TAKE THE REMATCH.

If Cotto takes the immediate rematch, Margarito will utterly destroy him.

Cotto may win a decision but the beating that Margarito will certainly inflict upon Cotto will be too great a pain that it will hasten his retirement. The beating that Cotto recieved from Margarito is the type of beating that retires or permenently ruins fighters.

    Why?

Margarito walked through hundreds of punches Cotto dished out. Now that Margarito knows he can't be hurt by Cotto, he will certainly walk right through him in the rematch. Margarito is a bad style matchup for Cotto.

Cotto needs to slow down. Build himself up again and take things into perspective.

    Two differences in my mind...

    1. Margarito was much more relentless than Pacquiao, and Cotto was much more movement-oriented than Morales was. Morales and Pacquiao played high speed chess for the most part in their first two fights. Margarito and Cotto played the snake and the mongoose for their fight.

    2. Margarito seems to have worn Cotto down with punishment. While Pacquiao obviously did the same, Erik Morales had taken more punishment in other fights previous to this one in his career. Erik had weight issues pretty bad at 130 by the time that fight rolled around, and just seemed to have less in him than Cotto did. Of course, Cotto is still young and in his prime, Morales was probably past his, unless someone thinks that Zahir Raheem really is better than Morales.

Pac was bothered by some of Morales' punches too. Margarito was never even bothered. His head would just rock back and he'd move forward.

The xcuse that Morales was battle worn are dumb excuses.

Pacquaio has been in just as many wars.

In fact Pacquaio's reputation as a slugger early on in his career means that EVERYONE of his fight is a war.

So the excuse that morales was faded doesn't really mean cow ****.

And Pacquiao did admit he was hurt by Morales' punches.

But not enough that he can't walk right through them.

The point of the thread is to explain how investing into early body work pays dividends late.

              And.

How crisp punching as opposed to EFFECTIVE and DAMAGING punches turn the tide of a fight.

I've explained it in detail. Read it again.

Of course I didn't present it in a simplistic way that I normally do.

But hey... learn to discern man.

Not everyone gets battle worn at the same rate. IE Bernard Hopkins fighting well into his 40s, and Fernando Vargas not being able to buy a victory at 28.

Body work clearly accelerated the process of fading for Morales in the second fight.

It didn't in the third fight though, so...

Either he was battle worn or the weight was killing him. Morales wasn't a guy who dropped dead in the third round (or at all really... his chin was iron).

Bad Comparison Margarito is a punching bag with sorry defense he took many shots.

Pacman didnt take as many shots and actually can box and mix it up

Margarito just takes your punches to tire you down then unleash 1 punch at a time he will throw 10 one punch shots.
