Sad how many great champions lose there money...be it swindled through bad investments, corrupt promoters and leeches or just plain spending it all.
I remember the HBO special on Joe Luis and it was some sad **** seeing him have to do wrestling exhibitions. Saddly it seems this may be the case for one last boxer whom we saw fight yesterday on Wednesday Night Fights. Castillo never really recieved huge pay-days and he took a big hit with not making weight for Corrales-Castillo III. I believe he was fined by the NSAC and also had law suits from promoters and Corrales's estate.Comment

Thats what i figured if they sellin part of it to eat...
But how could you be the beloved B-man in puerto rico and be starving to eat?
Won't someone like Trinidad or cotto lend a hand in allowing you to atleast eat decently...
I know I woulda helped tyson out plenty of times if he ever needed money and i was rich... of course i'd be making sure it went to him bettering himself.. like a house or somethin.
benitez receives money from the city of carolina (where he lives) and 400$ from the WBC, but it's not enough to cover the expenses of 24 hour home care, electricity, rent, water etc.
i truly cannot believe guys like cotto/trinidad won't lend a hand to a guy who inspired them to become pro boxers,Comment

That's not true, a lot fighters get taken advantage of and aren't good with money or have the education that they need to uderstand the business side of it.Comment
