I don't see why he would need to "work his way up" unless his break is a very long one. I think if he was to come back in the first half of 2009 and beat a top welter he definately should be #1.

Floyd is either coming back to fight Felix Sturm for the Middleweight title.
or
Floyd is going back down to 140 to fight Pacquaio or Ricky Hatton.
or maybe even go back down to 135 and Enter a very Jam Packed Lightweight Division. which is The Hottest Division in boxing.



Floyd has nothing else to gain by fighting in the WW division anymore.
Floyd only went to that division to chase De La Hoya anyways.
