"Sugar" Shane & Jin Mosley have their own blog!

Did you know that "Sugar" Shane & Jin Mosley have their own blog?

Jin just blogged about their take on this weekend's Cotto-Margarito fight and what goes into getting Sugar ready for a fight and how difficult and draining the process is. She is hysterical (especially because I don't think she's kidding about needing to drown her migranes with Mai Tai's)!

It's awesome to see athletes like "Sugar" Shane embracing blogging!

I once asked Shane: Is it really all worth it?

      He answered: Yes.

I asked: Would it be worth brain damage?

      He answered: Yes.

I asked: Could it be worth losing your life?

      He answered: Yes.

I asked: Would you do it all over again?

      He answered: Yes.

      LMAO. Shane is a warrior.

Wow, is all I can say about this fight! If my vote counted, I’d call it the fight of the year. Of course, I arrived just as the undercard was ending. Because although it wasn’t a Shane fight, people still wanted me to find ways to get them tickets. So, while HBO hooked me up with tickets (Thank you to my favorite HBO guy besides hi my name is Ray Stallone), the MGM also graciously had given me some tickets as well.

So, of course, I had to run from Will Call to V.I.P Lounge in 6-inch, gorgeous Zanotti’s. I finally made it to my seat and wouldn’t you know; I was sitting directly behind Mike Tyson & his 2 adorable mini-Mike boys.

I have met Mike a load of times but he never recognizes me without Shane. (As do most people. Thankfully, since I have acquired a gang of haters.) Throughout the entire fight, people were hounding Tyson and sticking their asses in our faces to take pictures of him. Until finally, I made Tina (my B.F.F) not allow anyone else to pass down our aisle because it was getting ridiculous.

Next to Mike and his boys was another guy who people kept coming over to and asking for pictures. The guy next to me said it was Paul “Something” — I can’t remember his last name but apparently, his team won this year’s basketball championship. He and Mike were very excited throughout the whole fight.

About Mike Tyson for a minute: I have always loved and tried to understand him and have also been a big supporter through all of his tribulations. So, I was watching or hawking him throughout most of the fight. It was very refreshing to see him with his boys. The older one was very interested and pretty knowledgeable about the fight. The younger one was pretty much curled up in Mike’s lap most of the fight. He was so cute with them. Very, very loving and affectionate towards them and they were very well-behaved kids.

Round 1 was a very action-packed, great round — not the usual first round where the guys are respecting and trying to feel out the other guy. Every round after that just got more & more exciting. I found myself jumping out of my seat many times and in complete awe of the heart of these two guys.

I, myself, was rooting for Cotto. Not because I don’t like Margarito, but because during the whole promotion with Shane/Cotto he was just a really great, humble, respectful person. I am usually biased when it comes to rooting for someone. I don’t go for skill, I go for who I know and who has moved me in some way, shape or form.

While at a N.Y. press conference for Shane, Arum brought Shane a B-day cake which had him lying down in the ring. As photographers took the faceoff pictures in front of the cake, Miguel whispered to Shane that he didn’t have anything to do with it, and said he should stand his figure up. How cute is that?

Then, after he defeated Shane, he came into the locker room and shook every single person’s hand. Muttered something and just seemed so apologetic. Right there, he gained my vote for all his future fights (except a rematch with Shane, of course).

Anyway, the crowd was mostly going for Margarito, definitely because geographically where the fight was. It was a full house and the energy was definitely there. I must say I love, love, love the energy of Mexican fans. They are great.

But somewhere in the 8th or 9th Round, for the first time, I realized how sad this sport really is. Besides the business part being S-A-D, I realized that Cotto was about to feel his first loss, I realized no one gives a sh** about fighters when they lose. Nothing is ever good enough and what’s more sad is that these guys live for this crazy sport and really are willing to die in the ring at no costs … and people still talk sh**.

It is very rare to see two fighters with equal amount of heart go against each other. The only others I can recall offhand are Diego/Castillo. Margarito was amazing he just kept coming and coming. You could feel his hunger and drive. While I feel Cotto is the more skilled boxer, I can’t deny the powerhouse that is Margarito.

I sat there in my seat feeling bad for the fighters in the ring, and feeling bad for Mike Tyson, right in front of me and the way the sport built him up, to break him down. Do we watch Mike with respect anymore or are most of us secretly watching to see if he flips the f** out? That’s sad.

I’m feeling bad for my man, and feeling bad for my son, who has fallen head over heels for boxing. Feeling bad for Terry Norris, Duk Koo Kim, Iran Barkley, Joe Louis & every fighter ever.

All the while, sitting behind me is a bunch of preppy, beer-drinking guys talking ****. Oh, “Cotto got his ass beat” or “he’s quitting” or “he should’ve trained better.” Blah, blah, blah! It was so bad, I wanted to turn around and flip on them. But I have been reading “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren, and am really trying to be a better person. So I bit my tongue instead, and I listened, watched and gradually grew bitter against this sport my husband sooo loves.

I once asked Shane: Is it really all worth it?

        He answered: Yes.

I asked: Would it be worth brain damage?

        He answered: Yes.

I asked: Could it be worth losing your life?

        He answered: Yes.

I asked: Would you do it all over again?

        He answered: Yes.

How can I argue this? All I can do is accept this brutal, violent, bittersweet sport. It’s honestly like a drug. We know we shouldn’t like and enjoy it, but the adrenaline rush and all the mixed emotions draw you in.

When Cotto walked out of the ring without speaking, the guys behind me balked. Was it the beers or were they really that shallow? Cotto just suffered his FIRST LOSS. Did this mean anything to them? He needed a minute. They showed his wife & child sobbing on the monitor. These guys didn’t flinch. How f**kn SAD!

Meanwhile, I fought my way past Mike Tyson and his circus of fans only to almost walk into a crazy, lunatic screaming at that Paul guy. He was an obsessed Lakers fan who I guess was mad that this guy’s team beat the Lakers. Are you kidding me? For a minute, I thought the 6′5 plus “Paul guy” was going to snuff the weirdo. Instead, he was smart and ignored him as best he could. Sports fan have really got to stop taking this so seriously.

Afterwards, I called Shane in Australia to see if he watched the fight. Of course, he did. He was not surprised at the outcome like I was. He said it was an amazing fight and said to set up his rematch. LOL.

I can’t wait to get out of Vegas. Au revoir pool and Mai Tai’s!

        Hello life.

Yeah, I respected her saying that as well. The sport is pretty brutal and violent at times, but it's also quite beautiful at the same time. She's still an abrasive **** though.
