Why do some people here dislike Paul Williams?

I posted my quote below in another thread but thought it deserved it's own thread. I am just curious as to why some posters dislike Paul Williams. I cannot fathom how anyone can.

"I can see how some would have ill feelings towards Floyd for some of the stunts he has pulled. He marched to his own drum and never listened to what many boxing fans wanted. Fair enough I guess.

What I don't understand, is how anyone can dislike Paul Williams. He will fight absolutely anybody anytime anyplace. He fights because he likes to fight. There is no drama with him, he is a warrior through and through.

Someone please explain to me how and why Paul Williams is disliked? Jesus he was even willing to step up against Pavlik, That is showing some huge balls right there folks."

Can anyone fill me in with a real answer here?

I don't think anyone really dislikes him. They dislike a few of the posters pushing him as the second coming of SRR. Plus, those poster are just moronic in general.

I think that is a fair question and you gave a sensible answer. Williams fights hard and handles himself with class. I'm not a big fan of his, but I do admire him.

there really is no reason to dislike Paul Williams. Dude is a BEAST. He's fun to watch. But some of the negative feelings for Williams on this site is due to the fact that certain posters started to overrated Williams because he appeared to be the one that could beat Cotto. These posters just happened to be Floyd fans which fueld the hate.

They declared that Williams deserved a shot at Cotto, but Cotto didnt deserve a shot at Floyd. So they rode the bandwagon proclaiming that Williams was the second best weltwerweight. Then, he lost to Quintana and these same posters were NO WHERE to be seen. NO WHERE. But sure enough, as he avenged his loss, they ALL came back and started the bandwagon all over again.

the funny thing about this is how much they expose themselves for being bandwagoners. As if dissapearing when Williams loses and reappearing when he wins isnt enough to show how much of fake ass fans they are, these guys big Williams up so much JUST because he isnt Margarito or Cotto. Williams is not the best boxer in the WW and his best weapon is his pressure and output. Basically, he is a skilled brawler. Yet, these same "Williams fans" will take ANY opportunity to dismiss any fighter who DOESNT fight like Floyd Mayweather such as mexican fighters who are more offensive minded.

so this leads me to ask the question, its only ok to be a somewhat limited offensive minded fighter when you're black like Paul Williams? Why is Paul Williams an amazing "boxer" but you guys turn around and call Izzy Vazquez or Margarito "typical, skill-less, brawling sluggers"?

Hypocrisy (or the state of being a hypocrite) is the act of preaching a certain belief or way of life, but not, in fact, holding these same virtues oneself.

Well I love Cotto and Margarito. True warriors in my opinion. I got Pavlik in my sig, he is my favorite fighter and he is not anything like Mayweather. I am not a fan of Mayweather, mainly because of some of his choices the past few years. I was once a big fan of his.

I see this as, if we all started hating a fighter because he has some idiot loud fans in here, we would not like any of them. Is that fair to the fighter himself?

I have seen some real bad digs thrown Cotto's way the past couple days and frankly, it is disgusting. The guy gave everything he had until he had nothing left.

I will not judge Cotto, Margarito or Williams for what the screaming children on here say. I judge a fighter for his spirit, his heart and his willingness to bring it to the table. **** the idiot fans. Time for the real boxing fans to show up.

Good post. If I was like that, I wouldn't like Wlad, Tyson, Pacquiao, and Pavlik
