that just shows Cotto isn't all about the money.

and Collazo could be a realistic possibility. Luis hasn't fought since January of this year and could use a fight.

I would put him in against Kermit Cintron in mid-09. Both guys are coming off devestating losses to Maragarito.

Lets have a all Puerto Rican battle.

        .
Cotto may not be "all about the money", but it was a MONUMENTALLY ****** decision.

He could have fought Oscar, banked the $20 million that makes his great-grandchildren rich, and then get his assk kicked by Margarito next spring. And he would have made MUCH more $$ to fight margie in spring '09 because he just got all of the exposure of an Oscar fight (see pbf-hatton).

What did he gain on saturday night that he wouldn't have gained much more after an Oscar fight?

Cotto vs. Hatton or Malignaggi at 147? Please, both of them would get eaten alive. Did you see what a weight drained Cotto did to Paulie at 140? It'd be a massacre.

You need to get fans back on board. Very few guys sell after a bad loss. Miguel would be giving up too much negotiating leverage coming off a loss like that.
"Fans back on board?" you need to pay attention to this forum or any other - there's not a single Cotto fan who's said they've given up on him - in fact, he's gained more respect and more fans.

                  at least Cotto has cohones

I thought Oscar didn't want to fight a Puerto Rican.

but assuming the Marg-Cotto fight would have gone down the same way (and this might be too big a stretch to make as it would be in 2009 according to your scenario)

he would have had $20 Million more in the bank and at least twice the exposure, but that's also assuming that Cotto could get by DLH. (it's a hypothetical so I'll leave the result open ended)

again Cotto has a little thing called pride, which is why he took on Margarito instead.

he doesn't run his mouth or spout bull**** about how "if it don't make dollars it don't make sense"

or "how many PPV's has he sold?"

and I don't even like Cotto, (not a huge fan) but at least he took the tougher fight rather then cash out vs a big name 35 year old who can no longer win the big one.

**I just can't wait till Mayweather comments on the Cotto/Margarito fight because in all honesty unless Floyd plans to fight either one he shouldn't say ****. Sure Floyd will say "Cotto wasn't crap" or even call him over rated. but I don't see Mayweather stepping into the ring with Margarito or Cotto anytime soon. (of course that could change, but I doubt it)

and what has Collazo done at 147? granted he did break his thumb vs Mosley, but he'd be a good name for Cotto to take on

unless Collazo can get that fight with Berto.

You need to pay attention to the point that WE ARE NOT TYPICAL FANS. We are the top 5% hardcore fans. Listen, asswipe, the typical casual Puerto Rican fan doesn't post hundreds or thousands of posts in some forum.

                      Such a moron.
