Toney vs. Rahman Result Changed To a No-Decision

This was the right call. I didn't care who won the fight but I do care that the rules of boxing are upheld.

Really that Dr. should not be allowed to supervise another fight.

He did not get in the ring, did not take a close look at Rahman, basically did not use due dilligence in performing his sole responsibility.

He instead stopped the fight essentially "at the recommendation of Rahman"

It was the referee who ****ed it up. The doctor was doing his job as a physician. The referee should have been there overseeing this and to make clear to Rahman what his options were. The bottom line is that Rahman said he couldn't defend himself, and that was ruled to be caused by a butt. That adds up to a no decision at that stage of the fight. The rules couldn't be clearer.

The California commission would have surely lost a lawsuit for not following their own rules. It looks real bad when the promoter's fighter gets the benefit of an accidental foul.

Yup, just like some others I'm not totally convinced it was a completely accidental but, Toney is certainly careless at best. Whilst the cut wasn't that bad, it did seem to be effecting Rahman's sight and awareness. He wouldn't just get a cut then randomly take big shots for no reason alltogether.

There was a significant change in his reactions and the punches landing on him after the cut. It's an unfortunate scenario for both fighters. However, the Rahmans a ***** line is a little harsh in my book. Say it all you want, fact is his opponents head cut him not the other way round. NC is fair outcome neither can complain with really.

Let's see.. do you think theres would be any chance you might complain if you spent a few months training, losing weight, and wasting time on a fight that was decided to be worth nothing because the other man couldn't stand a cut that was said to be a 4 of 10? I never said it was ideal or good for either guy. Infact I explicitly said it's not good for either guy, but what can you do?

It wasn't the worst cut in the world but it's difficult to really judge with these things, sometimes they just don't look bad and are in horrid spots, really trouble a guy. Whereas other big cuts elsewhere don't bother the fighter.

It was Toneys fault, he butted Rahman accidental or not. That put him at an unfair advantage, and Rahman at an unfair dis advantage.

Neither deserves to have it as a win, so No contest follows the rules and is the fairest possible outcome in an unfortunate scenario for everyone.

It is a good call. It ****** that one of the few times people could actually see a semi interesting fight on regular TV was cut short by a headbutt, but it is what it is. All was not lost. We got to see Tony ramble on and on like all of wanted to hear and see.

This is an okay call. It was determined that Toney's got more left than Rahman imo. That's what the fight was about, so let em call it a ND if they want. We found out what we wanted to.

What a load of BS! It came from Rahman's own mouth that he wanted to quit. Not the doctor, his corner or ref. Rahman didn't want to disgrace himself by being badly stopped by Toney. Didn't you guys see how Toney wobbled him bad with big right hand in the third. Rahman would have hung on for 3 more rounds??? Four maybe???

The cut wasn't that bad to be stopped anyway. Gatti kept on fighting like a Warrior against Ward with blood streaming into his eye. Toney had a busted head against Littles and wanted one more round and knocked his ass out! Klitchko still wanted to continue against Lewis with slashed eye.

Sounds to me like Toney should appeal. The doctor determined the cut wasn't severe enough to stop the bout. The docs word should have a little more clout than Rah's. Really, anything beyond that is Rahman or he and his team determining to stop the fight if it didn't continue like it was supposed to.

The W should have stood and an immediate rematch awarded to Rahman. A NC is just not fair when you've seen fighters box through worse.
