Why the hell do people keep talking about Clottey?

I really enjoy Clottey as a fighter. I think he's one of, if not the best fighter, to watch today. He has everything down well. Nonetheless, why do I keep seeing all the Cotto bashers or Marg bashers bringing up Clottey whenever the fight gets talked about. "Clottey whooped that ass.......for four rounds, until he hurt his hand". Great! So he won four rounds. Did he win the fight? No. If Cotto had broken his hand in the fifth or sixth and then lost, he would have looked absolutely unbeatable! Well, going by the whole 'Clottey' incident talk.

Williams beat Margarito. Clottey won four rounds and lost. That is all. Clottey has a big flaw, which is his stamina. He gasses quite badly late in fights. How would that have gone against Margarito? We don't know! All we know is that Margarito won. Clottey didn't, so stop bringing up Clottey like he is suddenly the best out there and kicked Margarito's ass or as some pathetic excuse as to why Cotto didn't.

i agree man. cotto was great the first 1/2 of that fight, and than marg beat him down. clottey is a good fighter, but inferior to cotto. anyone who refuse to give cotto props knows **** all and not worth talking to.

Clottey won more than 4 rounds to me. He beat Margs face up. He exposed him just as Williams did that Margs can't beat boxers. I had Clottey-Margs a draw. Margs was truly hurt after tha fight.

Good point Clottey is one of my favorite fighters, and he is always fun to watch. I still did not see the whole fight between him and Margarito, but it's obvious, he has stamina problems under pressure. Margarito throws a hell of a lot of punches even if they don't land they keep you on your feet moving. Clottey doesn't fade when he goes against guys he can outclass and outgun. Most recently we saw this against Alvarez. Clottey really did not tire out and he kept up momentum. If Clottey could adjust those Stamina problems he can beat Margarito. And I feel anyone in the Welter weight division.

Cotto has beaten much, much better welterweight competition than Clottey has. If you don't believe me, then tell me who the best welterweight Clottey ever beat. If he beats Judah that's a start. But today he has just has a reputation and no big wins.

Hey man, I agree with everything you say. I know what your views are and I agree with all of them. Cotto has beaten much better competition and that's basically what I'm trying to get across. I've just read a ton of posts and threads that are bringing up this strange view that because Clottey won four rounds before he hurt, not broke, his hand against Margarito that he is suddenly better than Cotto and that because Cotto couldn't beat Margarito he is crap! I just don't get it. Clottey didn't beat Margarito and in losing Cotto still dominated Margarito more than Clottey did.

Williams is the only guy to have beaten Margarito of late. Clottey lost so he is useless in any argument. The Margarito that lost to Williams would have lost to Cotto on Saturday night. Funnily enough, and I'm not a huge fan of Cotto, I think Cotto is still the best welterweight out there and would still beat more welterweights than any of the other guys would. He had a bad plan against Margarito and didn't execute his boxing strategy well enough. It was very obvious though that with the right game plan he could, quite simply, dominate Margarito.
