Cotto's status has been shot, maybe permanently

When you consider that two guys in his division that were seen as below him in talent and skill handled Margarito with relative ease

I'm talking about Clottey playing the drums on Margarito's head for four rounds until injuring both hands. You could honestly look at it like this: Clottey hit Margarito's hard head so often he broke his hands from it.

I'm talking about Williams winning the first 6 rounds and slowing a bit late in the fight but winning a clear unanimous decision.

Yet Cotto can't control this one-dimensional, slow as ****, telegraphing every punch iron-chinned bastard?

Hate to say it, but this hurts Cotto a lot more than he may realize. I really thought he was winning the fight going into the 11th, but he was running whereas Clottey and Williams were willingly marching into Margarito's personal hell and winning.

none of what you just said means Cotto is shot. How long have you been watching boxing? Since 2005? Why is he shot? Cotto is fine dude.

The whole Clottey thing has been beat to death. Tony was hurt comin into the fight. Williams and Tony basically split the 2 halves of the fight, wit Paul edgin him out closely but clearly. Cotto got beat but he gave Tony hell while he could. He's lost some of shine obviously, but I wouldn't say he's done until he fights again and looks weak.

I guess I didn't make it clear. His status as an elite fighter is shot. He's not a shot fighter, at least we can't say that until he fights again. Sorry for the confusion

I get the feeling if Cotto broke his hand in the 4th round you wouldn't be using it as an excuse.

What I am saying is that the way he lost to Margarito is going to hurt any chances he had of being considered great when you can point out two guys that handled Margarito pretty easily within the last year and a half

Your opinions are so biased and ridiculous they should be taken as comedy. Once again, Clottey didn't break his hands in the Margarito fight. Is there another language that would help get that through your thick head? Clottey lost, he didn't handle Margarito with ease. Wake up from your fantasy dream world.

if Cotto could produce a broken hand that would explain a lot to me. unfortunately all he produced thus far was a bloodied face

he should have won this fight. that he didn't tells me he was never elite

if Cotto worked tony's body just a little he could have won...bad gameplan to head hunt the Mexican Tex Cobb.

did you give Margarito any of the first four rounds against Clottey?

Clottey tells his corner during the fight that his hands are hurt. did you notice the complete turn the fight took in round 5? you know, when Margarito wasn't taking 4 and 5 punch combos to the face
