I hope Cotto comes back and improves. He probably could have won had he had more conditioning/stamina to backpedal, counter and block/dodge hits.I mean come on first 6 rounds, Cotto was doing the matrix againest the guy, but Marg did beat him, I will give him his props.

If I had to bet money, I would say that Migs is never the same.

many examples: vargas, meldrick, Lacy, hatton, etc...

Dude, what is with you? you act like unless we fought professionally and were in the top 5 p4p, then we cant comment on Cotto.

You are acting real ***** right about now.

Give the man his props and Cotto is the man-that dude can really fight for a human, but Margarito isn't human. Great fighters both. Even though Tony got long arms, it is a mystery how beautiful Margarito gets to work on the inside.
Cotto showed determination and is very intelligent in there, but the brutality advantage Margarito possesses was key. The key punch for him tonight was the left uppercut inside!
I give kudos to Cotto for giving Magarito the fight. Certainly DeLaHoya & Mayweather wouldn't have. If Oscar wants a dangerous opponent, after tonight i don't think you can get anymore dangerous than Margarito.

I have my doubts. Once I saw Cotto retreat into the corner for the second knee, and the look on his face afterwards, I started to think about it more.

Let's break it down for a bit.......

Beatings like this don't come around that often in our sport (thankfully). Cotto did a damn good job boxing and moving, and avoiding confrontation as long as he possible could. But he was taking serious damage in there from Antonio.

It reminded me of Chavez/Taylor a little bit, although Cotto is nowhere near Meldrick and Tony is nowhere near Chavez. But it had that same feel, a vastly superior boxer sticking and moving constantly while being bullied on the insider by the bigger, stronger guy.

Cotto was spitting up copious amounts of blood, his mouth was mangled, his nose seemed ot be broken, he was taking it to the body extremely hard, and he was being stalked the entire fight. He had no breathing room whatsoever, Margarito executed a perfect throwback performance. The kind of **** that would make Jake LaMotta blush.

I honestly don't know if Cotto will be the same. Physically, his face iwll heal, he'll look the part of Miguel Cotto again in no time. But underneathe that is what counts, if he still has what it takes to go 12 hard rounds physically and mentally. Going into this fight his entire Country had his back, he's had enormous pressure put on him since day 1 to surpass Trinidad.

It's going to be hard to come back from that kind of beating. Jeff Lacy, Meldrick Taylor, and Ricky Hatton all come to mind recently. All of whom were ruined against the guys who beat them the most (Chavez, Calzaghe, and Mayweather).

Hatton has only had one fight which he won convincingly so it is premature to place him in that category.

Had it been a one sided beating then yes since that will mentally **** your confidence up but it was a close fight that I felt Cotto was winning before the 11th round TKO.

Lacy, Hatton, and the other guys that you mentiones took a beating and got outclassed that made them lose their confidence and were/are no longer the same fighters because of it but I'm sure Cotto feels like he was dominating the fight until that final round, he just was so gased out he couldn't continue.

I thought it was either even going into the 11th or maybe Cotto by a point but to say he was dominating the fight is ridiculous. He clearly lost several of the middle rounds of the fight and was staggered in a couple of them.
