I mean that type of beating can ruin a fighter. Hell if he isnt ruined already. I think a rematch will officially ruin him, win lose or draw!

Yes he should. Whether wise or not, it's about being the best. If by late next year - Cotto and Margarito are champions - then Cotto deserves a rematch and he'll pursue it. It's not like Cotto got beat down the entire fight. I'm not saying the outcome would change, but Cotto will fight the best and another Margo fight is no exception.

He needs to dump ECKO and get a El 7 Mares sponsorship

No. Cotto didn't make any mistakes that he can correct. he didn't lose cuz he ****ed up, he lost cuz he got ****ed up. He's got nothin to be ashamed of and he proved he's the better boxer, but that wasn't enough for him to win. Tony's too tough and too strong for him. Cotto fought like a champ and deserves a rematch, but I wouldn't advise him to pursue it.

I disagree to a certain extent. He didn't employ the best fight strategy - he never touched Margarito to the body (which 100% of analysts knew was his key to a victory), and you have to tie up and box in the middle of the ring. I'm not saying this would change the outcome - but Cotto fell into the notion of trying to bust Tony's chin up and neglected much everything else. Tony is too tall, too strong - I agree with that.

if he's great, he has to try to avenge the loss. but we know he's not great, so no point really. a great fighter wouldn't lose to a slow, plodding guy

cotto deserves a rematch thats for sure, but i would like to see him bounce back first... have a couple good wins here and there against andre berto type opposition then next year we can have a bigger showdown... that is IF cotto can even recover from the beating he took last night, and i mean recover both physically and MENTALLY.

After seeing this fight, and some of Margarito's others I don't really think he's all that slow and plodding

it's been said over and over again how Marg needs several rounds to warm up, but look how was able to close the gap vs Miguel Cotto through out the fight.

so is he really all that slow and plodding? or is that a generalization about Margarito that will just never go away?

Not only they're having a rematch, but they'll be also having a trilogy cuz Cotto will avenge his lost the next time he faces Margarito.

If Cotto wants to stablish his greatness, then he should/must KO Margarito twice.
