We can only speculate as to why he didn't go to the body, maybe he got overconfident because he thought he could hit Margarito so easily to the head, he didn't need to go to the body or he didn't want to open himself up to punches from Margarito when he bend down to land those body shots.

He didn't work the body too well against Mosley either so maybe he's drifted away a bit from his body attack.

i don believe that was the case. seemed like a planned strategy from round 1 to box margarito and be the more agile fighter

I think that what a lot of people said in that his chin isn't holding up so well in the welterweight division is right. He can't expose his chin against guys like Margarito who can give as good as he gets. Mosley was beat Cotto at his own game trading inside so I don't think he felt confident fighting on the inside. You can't trade with a fighter who has a brick for a chin.

His chin is OK at 147, it definitely isn't glass, he got hit numerous times by a pretty big puncher.

His gameplan in the fight was definitely to not stay on the inside with Margarito and use his jab to box, move and pick his shots, unfortunately, he picked the wrong shots because he did almost nothing to Margarito's body.
