    People making excuses for Cotto

You've got to be kidding me. Taking credit away from Margarito when he succeeded to outwork and, not outland, but outpunch a very ready and game Cotto. Cotto fought and went out like a champion. Margarito came to take the title from the champion. He won the fight with his determination, conditioning, and hunger for the title of welterweight king as Cotto once was. Cotto lost because he is Miguel Cotto, the exciting tactician/brawler/boxer that we all know and love and, this was his worst nightmare matchup. Someone who doesn't stop attacking and pressuring no matter how hard you hit him. If he were to hit and clinch then guess what? He is no more exciting then Hopkins or Mayweather, not taking anything away from their skill. As for the body attack, watch the fight again. Margarito has very tight body defense and had he gone to the body as you all say he should, he would've been tagged very hard in the process many MORE times. So please, give credit where credit is due and stop making excuses for what they should've done. They fought like champions and in the end the better man one. That is all...

    They're in shock, understandable.

Not sure if they realized the magnitude of what just happened. They dug themselves the biggest hole in the history of fight predictions.

    ****ing idiots.

Every day we were forcefed the same bull****: "Oh Cotto's boxing skill rivals Whitakers what is Margarito going to do? He's a bum, blah blah I'm a ****ing ignorant dillhole who watches weekend fights mostly Miguel Cotto. Thank god for HBO otherwise I wouldn't know boxing!!!"

    Everyone was tired of it.

It was a great fight, but after the second round it was evident that Margarito was going to take Cotto's heart.

As for some of the ******s on this forum, they're beyond help.

Ok credit....we all knew it wasn't gonna be an easy fight but who wanted to admit that,...good fight though!! Move on...Cotto will comeback we don't fall that easily!

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Sorry but I disagree. Cotto did not go out like a champ, he quit. A champ gets knocked out, not takes a knee and allows his corner to stop the fight.

Margarito was taylor made for Cotto, and it showed in the first 6 rounds. He was beating Margarito to the punch and showing he was the much better boxer. In the end, Margarito showed he was the tougher man and didn't allow Cotto's punches to affect him and walked through him like it was nothing.

Margarito gained so much of my respect and Cotto lost so much of my respect. You get knocked out, not take a knee and allow your corner to bail you out......I'm sorry.

Margarito broke Cotto down both physically and mentally.

No excuses Margarito was the better man. It is true that Margarito's defense is underrated.

i didnt expect margarito to win but give him full credit for beating cotto at his own game.

                the way i see it:
cotto came to fight, for sure. but margarito came to win, period.

Figures a lotta people would focus on what Cotto did wrong more than what Tony did right. He won't get full credit for this big win cuz people just don't wanna give it to him.
