a lot of the time, the ref was breaking them before they even clinched

the ref was biased point blank, lets look at Floyd's advantages:

        * Ring made bigger at Floyd's request so he can run into space

        * Ref takes point off Hatton for punching a rope

        * Floyd allowed to throw elbows all night

        * Floyd allowed to duck down

        * Hatton repeatedly warned, Mayweather never warned

        * Mayweather holding on, Ricky getting the blame

        * Cortez breaking the fighters up every two seconds setting Hatton up for shots

        * Floyd makes the fight at 147 even though he's able to fight at 140 or a catch weight

the list goes on and on

Underdog Hatton pleads with referee Cortez to let fight flow

            Monday December 3 2007

Joe Cortez, ranked by many as the world's leading referee, will take charge of next weekend's welterweight title fight in Las Vegas between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton, with the 62-year-old New Yorker being urged by Hatton not to be intimidated by Mayweather, who has described him as a "dirty fighter".

Hatton will hope Cortez allows the contest to flow in the same manner as he did in the Castillo fight. "It's a work of art being able to fight up close and inside-fight. I don't hold I just work inside," Hatton said. "Me and Castillo weren't holding, we were educated inside fighters. It was toe-to-toe close-quarter boxing, which is as big a talent as Floyd running away and winning at distance.

"If either of us is holding, break us. Don't break us the minute we get to close quarters. I think Floyd wants to get it into the referee's mind that I am a dirty fighter. I just hope the referee is strong enough. If we are working in close, let us work."

Hatton ability to get near the fleet-footed Mayweather and punish the American with his trademark body shots is seen as one of the key areas of the fight, especially since the "Hitman" believes he has been unfairly demonised by the HBO television expert and judge Harold Lederman, who has dubbed him "Hit-and-Hold Hatton".

The former world featherweight champion Barry McGuigan says referee Cortez will have a crucial role to play in determining how the fight develops. "I just hope referee Cortez allows [Hatton] to get inside because that will be his best tactic," he said.

Boxing: Ricky Hatton has urged referee Joe Cortez not to be influenced by Floyd Mayweather's mind games

See what Hatton was up against. This article is PRE-FIGHT. Mayweather knew he had to get the ref onside in order to win otherwise he was gonna get the **** beaten out of him.

The ref went in there with a preconception of Ricky and blew him out of the fight.

              * Ring made bigger at Floyd's request so he can run into space

Now the ring was too big for Hatton to win?How many excuses can you come out with?

              * Ref takes point off Hatton for punching a rope

Hatton attempted the foul and the instant replay showed that he grazed Mayweathers head with the ilegal punch. How is the point deduction relavent when Hatton was knocked out the fight did not go to the cards.

              * Floyd allowed to throw elbows all night

Hatton is allowed to hit adn hold maul his opponents low blow get shoe lace breaks when he is hurt and rabbit punch.Floyd has never been considered a dirty fighter but Hatton is,so that excuse is pitiful.

              * Floyd allowed to duck down

Your excuses are getting worser by the minute

              * Hatton repeatedly warned, Mayweather never warned

Hatton and Mayweather were both warbed for excessive clinching.Watch the fight again.

              * Mayweather holding on, Ricky getting the blame

The poor ref is blaming Ricky That is sad it must of caused him to get knocked out and brutally beat with lead rights and hooks all night long.

              * Cortez breaking the fighters up every two seconds setting Hatton up for shots

That was only in the early rounds and even saying that diminishes hatton as a fighter. He can only fight one way and without that he has no plan B.You make Hatton seem one deminsional when you use that excuse. What he does is ilegal in the sport of boxing

              * Floyd makes the fight at 147 even though he's able to fight at 140 or a catch weight

The joke is on you as Mayweathers team offered a Hatton fight at 140 but Grahm turned it down.I wonder why?

the list goes on and on
I have never seen so many excuses before in my life.

This has to be the saddest attempt to excuse the victory of a fighter

Webbler shouldn't even watch boxing if he can dismiss a dominant performance like that.

pleas, one fighter wasn't allowed to fight, it was 2 against 1

compare with Calzaghe/Hopkin where he allowed inside fighting all night (again to the British fighter's detriment)
