People always brought up his losses but if you look closely at his losses it will show something unsual. Like His first loss came when he was freaking 16 year old kid for christ sakes! The 2nd was when he was 17 year old kid.
Remember where talking about a guy just being thrown to the wolves here. The 3rd loss came when he was 18 years old. Again he's a kid with no amateur experience.
He was basically an amateur fighting against men in the pro's. For example Cotto Made his debut at the age of 20, as where Margarito was in the pro's at 15! Huge difference.
This one example but most guys like Cotto,Mosley,Oscar,Floyd,Vargas,,Mayorga,Judah and many other are brought up at least by 19 or 20.
The way Margarito was brought is unusual for fighters which is why imo he dropped a few L as kid. In the amateurs your allowed to lose, and learn. Maybe if he had been brought slower his record would not have those early L is my opinion.
Lets talk about his true L's for a minute now. His fight with Santos was stopped on a cut and was basically up on 1 card and was gaining steam, and had Santos hurt. Anyway this could be considered his first legit loss but then again this fight was at 154 and not at 147.
The Paul Williams fight was an L no doubt about it. I think it was good fight tho. Margarito started off slow but he did hurt Williams late but Williams edge out on points. A rematch is clearly warranted at this point so it should be interesting since both fighters are the biggest in the division.
