I've contemplated the outcome and analyzed this fight over the last few days. Here is my conclusion of how the fight will play out:
The first round will be true fireworks, with both men fighting for national pride, anything can happen. Margarito has KO'd guys, straight blitzed 'em in 1 or 2 rounds, so he's got a chance to do it in one. Cotto can catch him straight up the middle though, as Tony throws wide shots.
If both survive the first round war, Cotto will begin to take over during the next 5 rounds, as Tony has been a slow starter in the past as well. Sometimes he doesn't "Turn on the engines" until about the sixth round and I think Cotto will present enough of a problem that it takes Tony about six rounds to start feeling comfortable enough to unleash his terror.
So in kind of a role reversal, if the fight makes it past the first, Tony will be unsteadily the "Boxer" as Cotto surprisingly bulls him around the ring and hits him with heavy shots (first Leonard - Hearns anyone???). Marg will land his shots during this time however, just not very frequently. The only reason Tony will be able to take the early Cotto assault is because of the granite chin he possesses. Keep in mind though, Tony does have momentum changing power and will be dangerous throughout.
After the sixth round, Tony will have put enough leather on Miguel for the effects to start taking place and Marg will begin to unleash "shock and awe". This will continue as Miguel puts on his boxing shoes and starts to backpedal. Tony should walk him down and the size advantage will be clearly evident by this point.
Tony stops him in the 10th round with Miguel hitting the deck at least twice.
