Rafael Concepcion Ices AJ Banal in Ten, Upset City

The Cebu City Coliseum was stunned when Rafael "El Torito" Concepcion (11-2-1, 7KOs) of Panama made good on his promise and stopped undefeated Filipino prospect AJ Banal (17-1-1, 14KOs) in the tenth-round to capture the WBA interim-super flyweight title. [details]

LoL! I guess all the Goldenboy signed filipino fighters have been taken out. Let's see if Arum gets some better fortune with the other Concepcion in Bernabe. Damn, all this talk about Filipino boxing will be dead when Manny is done is looking really accurate right about now.

          From another thread:

Not visibly hurt but one of those you can feel because all of a sudden the fighter retreats and isn't throwing as much.. I'd call it visible discomfort.

Banal quit plain and simple, yes he was knocked down but it wasn't particularly hard shots that did him in. He pulled a Jaca/Marquez and Morales/Pacquiao III type of move, just staying down even though he could've gotten up.

I would have expected Banal to mow through this opponent easily but he just couldn't even though he was landing a lot. Didn't have the power and Concepcion was no quitter.

It's all about Nonito Donaire and that's bout it..
I don't see any of the other Pinoys making it real big.
