for putting this fight on the same night that the UFC is coming on National TV again. Its bad enough when HBO & Showtime are putting fights on the same night but he definatly shouldnt have let this happened. Again, this is a big fight but neither guy is mainstream. Tickets have been hard to sell and the PPV's probably wont be great with the UFC on unless the Mexicans & PR's go all out.
On top of that Arum doesnt even try to offset the UFC by throwing on a great undercard. The UFC is having a rematch tonight of the Lawler fight that got stopped early last time but that was a very good fight so I could see people wanting to see the rematch. Then you have what most call the biggest fight in boxing getting some of the worst coverage Ive ever seen. You would swear that 2 bums are fighting tonight with the coverage its got. Even the HBO on Demand ****** by not putting the Countown show on it. I just think Arum has rolled he dice big time on this one. Alot of people think that UFC fans & boxing fans are not the same so it doesnt matter but when it comes to the mainstream fan, they dont really care and they could easily pick the UFC fight tonight.
Then you also have the fact that this fight is in Vegas instead of NY. Imagine how much bigger this fight couldve been if it was a Yankee's stadium as some had previously talked about? It wouldve got alot more coverage and couldve really brought boxing's name up big time if these guys wouldve put on the show that many think they will. I hope everything works out right but this is a big risk by Arum who has his mouth in everything else but has done a horrible job his ownself in the staging and promotion of this fight. Again, he better hope that Margarito & Cotto bail him out by having a great fight tonight
