USA invaded PR and took possesion of the land because PR always been the most attractive port in the Americas because of its location.

Thats the reason why there were so many Spanish military men in PR than other Spanish speaking countries, in the 1700s and 1800s, PR was really a Spanish military base which why they wasn't much rebellion on the island until the Grito de Lares, most historical rebellion in PR history.

By 1895 , Puerto Rico had one of the most dynamic economies of the Caribbean; they had their own currency, alot of autonomy and through centuries of blood and struggle they were almost free from Spain.

Then PR got invaded by the US in 1898 and all that hard work was blown to ****. We are immediately sunk into misery. Puerto Rico never saw such poverty before the American invasion. For a good part of the first half of the 20th century, Puerto Ricans would illegally migrate to the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC because they were so f'n poor!

The flag and anthem were immediately outlawed and a military dictatorship was imposed, which lasted for 54 years. Then they changed the flag and anthem to the flag you see now(light sky blue to dark america blue)...which is kinda funny to me seeing many Puerto Ricans today wave the flag but have no idea of the meaning in the flag.

Over 60% of Puerto Rico's population live on crumbling public housing projects and pay practically nothing while the middle class break their backs to pay for most of it.

America's Navy bombed the island municipality of Vieques for 60 years, people living there are are about 5 times more likely to get cancer than people living in the main island as a result.

But atleast its better than Mexico.

Do you have any idea how much your country gets exploited by the United States and how much your government allows it as long as the rich and power (5-10% of mexico) get their benefits and the majority of the country lives in some of the worse conditions and complete poverty?

        * In 2002, half the population in Mexico was living in poverty and one fifth was living in extreme poverty.

I really find it ignorant that people try to play PR by saying its now a country, when most of us ****s come from countries that get exploited and owned by the USA on a daily basis.

Stop being a coon and do your research. Coming from a impoverish country is nothing to brag about.
