    Pascal-Froch

Super-middleweight Jean Pascal who passed over an opportunity this week to fight for a WBO 'Interim' earlier this week made the wait worth his while as it was announced that the undefeated Montreal fighter would be meeting #1 contender Carl Froch for the vacant WBC title previously held by Joe Calzaghe. "That belt belongs to us, and I'm going to get it back," said Pascal referring to the championship once held by popular Quebec boxer Eric Lucas (as well as Davey Hilton) that the retired fighter lost on a controversial in Germany to Markus Beyer. "This is a pretty big day for me, I've always considered the WBC as one of the most prestigious belts in the sport and I'm glad my promoter Yvon Michel has worked hard to give me this opportunity. I'm starving right now," Pascal told *********, "I haven't had a fight in six months, but I've been in the gym, I've been busy and doing my thing, I knew if I just kept working hard something good would happen."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the Hennessy promoted Froch, Pascal meets a boxer with a record very much like his own. Froch stands at 23-0 (19KO) while Pascal sits at 21-0 with 14 stoppages. "He's a good puncher with good skills," said Pascal adding "But I've got good skills too, I know I'm faster than him, and I know that I'm better than him." No word where the fight will take place at this point as the two promoters (Michel and Hennessy) have just initiated talks. "Honestly, I'll be ready, I don't care if it is England, Montreal or the U.S. I was in England and fought in front of 15,000 people and won the Commonwealth Gold Medal against the hometown fighter Paul Smith. I'll be ready no matter where it is."

Froch is from the UK, most likely the hardest hitter in the division, his defense is suspect thought but has a great beard.
