So... Margarito is willing to take punches in order to dish 'em out, and he's got the same grade as a guy who goes from brawler, to boxer/puncher, and sometimes even into boxer mode? Right...

the last 2 articles have been pro-margarito ( healiners yesterday and today).

but what gets me, is where he says he's never been sold on cotto as a "special fighter." he's not perfect, but he always wins, even if he has to go to a plan B or C. that's special.

then he kind of knocks cotto for fighting shane mosley b/c he was 36. are u serious? how old was hopkins when he beat the **** outta trinidad??? bout 36, i reckon.

bottom line is, im not SURE cotto is going to win, its going to be a war, and really, its going to come down to whoever wants it. when guys write artilces, its always better in my opinion to be objective, but neutral at the same time....................but i guess dude was just giving his opinion.

personally, i dont think margarito's "power" will affect cotto, if cotto loses its b/c he will gas out. i think margarito gets waaaaaaaayyyy too much credit, for beating kermit cintron twice......

Cliff Rold is an excellent writer and a Ring Magazine Ratings Advisory Panel member.

I'd take his word over a keyboard warriors.

When you're in the war zone and air raids are flying overhead, you deserve every smoke you get.

Sir Cliff Rold's report cards have always been a great help to my knowledge and understanding of the sport of boxing. Aside from a couple of minor details, I've got to agree with his entire arguments on this Cotto - Margarito showdown. When analyzed piece by piece, Cotto is seemingly a better, more skilled fighter than the Tijuana Tornado is, but boxing is anything but math. It's about the aggregate. I saw another pundit pick Margarito at boxingscene.com the other day. Just hope they turn out correct, as my bet is on Margarito. Can't wait to see him in action against the man who I think is overrated!

If that was the case, he wouldn't have 5 losses.

Not to be rude, but the 5 losses line is weak. Three of those losses came between the ages of 15 and 18, the third just months after that adult milestone. In the twelve years since, he's lost twice. Once to Daniel Santos in a fight stopped early on a cut that many though Marg was winning but, hey it was in Puerto Rico. The other was to a Williams who fought an almost perfect, high volume performance. So one clear loss in twelve years might indicate Williams having a great night more than a knock on Margarito.
